Waxahachie-based custom home builder Jim Sargent began his business in the 1970s during the oil embargo and ensuing energy crisis. He began the practice of monitoring the energy consumption of each home he built, a practice he continues today. His understanding of what works and why in healthy, energy efficient construction has made him a popular guest on radio, TV, and the teaching circuit. He has been recognized by the National Association of Home Builders and U.S. Department of Energy, but he's far too humble to mention it.
