La Reunion TX is implementing programs to create a proof of performance to the community of the types of activities we will pursue once the housing and studio space are built. In addition we seek to create an operational infrastructure for reviewing portfolios and selecting artists for the future residency.  Our Artist Selection Committee is comprised of gallery owners, artists and arts professionals.  Click on any headline for more information on that program.

Please contact us if you or a group would like to tour the decomposing art gallery and future residency site.  Currently, we offer an educational tour on Saturdays at 10am. See the ecologically friendly decomposing tree art.  Imagine the 'green' high performing future artist housing and studio space. Learn about Dallas' history and the original La Reunion colony.  Long pants and sturdy shoes are a must.  The site is still wilderness and not ADA compliant.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  You must RSVP to attend and obtain  directions.  Sarah@LaReunionTX.org

Want to volunteer on a community cleanup day?  We rely on folks who love the outdoors to spruce, tidy and pick up trash.   Contact Scott Nance at Scott@LaReunionTX.org

Preparing the La Reunion TX land ready for building while keeping in mind a healthy, long-term ecology is of utmost importance to La Reunion TX. Engaging artists as stewards of the ecosystem and site specific sculpture are the hallmarks of the Environmental Art Program at La Reunion TX.

Here's what our artists say about our Environmental Art Program:
"Without a doubt the best ever… I felt that everything was sweetly executed and set a gorgeous tone and precedent for the coming years…!!"
"I am honored to be a part of this project, and am really excited about the future of this organization. Great and beautiful things are to come!"
"This was fantastic!! Looking forward to more projects like these and many more opportunities…"

Future Environmental Art programming includes special tours, workshops, lectures, Earth Works and more.

Art Chicas is our beloved mentoring program now in its fourth year.  Local female artists selected by jury enter into a short term mentor-apprentice relationship with under served high school girls. This collaborative program also includes Girl Scouts of NorthEast Texas, Deaf Action Center Texas and Dallas Art Dealers Association. Dallas Women's Foundation funded the pilot program in the Fall of 2007.

Here's some of the impact on the student artists lives:
"I loved what I did and I thought it was absolutely amazing."
"I think the overall workshop was great. You guys did really good."
"More art makes everything more enjoyable!"
"I'll be able to share what I've learned with the children I babysit."
"I can give performances to raise money for a cause."

La Reunion TX loves the conversation between new and traditional media. We seek to have that dialogue as much as possible. Graphic novels are the perfect (fun) way to do so. In April 2007, we hosted our first workshop, Scriptwriting for Graphic Novels. In May 2008 we hosted a panel discussion as a part of Free Comic Book Day. Look for more Spring 2009.
